Ghostbusters: The Video Game Multiplayer Impressions

Earning cash for your endeavours, Ghostbusters: The Video Game provides its own unique spin on classic co-operative containment, survival and capture-the-flag modes, putting you in the shoes of one of the four Ghostbusters as you go.
You’ll join a lobby at the start of every match and encouraged to choose a Ghostbuser and Proton Pack. Money is earned by capturing ghosts and naturally this is all tied into trophy awards.
The gameplay modes are rather simple co-operative takes of other multiplayer modes – the survival mode for example will see you clearing away hordes of ghosts. You’ll need to work as a team to keep them at bay and revive each other. There is also some strategy to which proton pack you select at the start of each match, seeing as different enemies have different weaknesses. If you all select the same pack you’ll find some enemies difficult to clear away due to your single strength as a team. As such it’s best to select a different pack each.
The maps are all based upon levels from the single-player experience so the rooftop fight with the Stay Puft Marshmallow man returns, as does the library setting.
Phrases shared between team mates try to keep the experience true to the Ghostbusters universe but become a bit repetitive.
The biggest problem with the Ghostbusters online multiplayer is the hit or miss connection. During our playtesting we got booted from half the matches we tried to join and sometimes experienced glitches and disconnects midway through a match. It’s annoying because you lose your stats and the flow of a good game. Hopefully a patch will be released fixing such issues.
