Gran Turismo 5 Is Rumoured To Make A Surprise Release This Year.
Read into this what you will, but British online retailer Play.com have set Gran Turismo 5’s release date as 27th November 2009. Which is a Friday, we checked. There are a number of things that make this news interesting. Firstly, if Sony wanted Gran Turismo 5 to make an impact (which of course they do), then launching just short of Christmas would be the perfect time for them. Secondly, Tokyo Game Show runs at the end of September, which would be a likely place for Sony to announce some kind of worldwide launch for Gran Turismo 5. The announcement of a bundle including the “new” rumoured, cheaper PS3Slim would be pretty big news for Sony too. Thirdly, Gran Turismo godfather Kazunori Yamauichi went on record as saying Gran Turismo 5 is “at a point [where] we can release it any time we want”. And last but not least, Forza Motorsport 3 is due out this October.
Alternative British retailer GAME have the release pencilled in as September. We’ll have to wait and see if anything comes of this.
