The Next Hot Shots Golf Game Doesn't Allow On-Cartridge Storage. So Expect Lots Of DLC For That.

Gamers were dismayed last week when Sony announced anticipated PlayStation Vita titles such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Hot Shots Golf 6 would require a memory card, while others such as Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 would not.

But a translation of the Japanese PlayStation Vita FAQ has revealed that the decision is all about scalability. In short: those games that allow on-cartridge saving will not allow support for DLC, while those that don't, erm, will. Are you with us?

We totally understand why DLC downloads will require use of a memory stick — obviously you need to download additional files onto something. What we don't understand is why the games can't save onto the cartridge regardless. We're not technicians, but it seems pretty simple to us: all on-game content saves onto the cartridge, while all post-release content saves onto the memory stick. No?

Hmmm, perhaps the bigger story here is that Sony has DLC planned for Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Seeing as the game is single-player only...
