Uncharted: Golden Abyss Is One Of The First PlayStation Vita Titles To Get An Official Price-Point.

But the latest issue of Famitsu magazine has published the prices for a variety of PlayStation Vita's most-wanted, including Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Ridge Racer.

Nathan Drake's latest adventure will run you ¥5,980 ($78) at retail, with the download version being significantly cheaper at ¥4,900 ($63). Meanwhile Hot Shots / Everybody's Golf 6 will be priced at ¥4,980 ($64) at retail and ¥3,980 ($51) on the PlayStation Store.

Ridge Racer follows a similar model, with the retail version costing ¥3,980 ($51) and the download version costing ¥3,580 ($46). Brilliantly, Namco has decided to put the download version on sale until March 2012, with it costing just ¥2,980 ($38) until then. The publisher's following a similar model for Katamari Damacy, with the retail version costing ¥4,980 ($64) and the download ¥4,480 ($58) — but like Ridge Racer the download version will be on sale for ¥3,980 ($51) at release.

If the prices seem a bit high then, that's because Japanese games are ordinarily excruciatingly expensive. The good news is that these Vita titles are no more costly than PSP games, which means Sony is unlikely to hike the prices of software worldwide. Furthermore the download costs being less than at retail is a good sign, but the trend is unlikely to continue in Europe and North America.
