Is The PSP's Successor Finally About To Get Its Time In The Spotlight?

According to the site's source, Sony will hold a “business overview and strategy meeting” in Tokyo on January 27th, and will use the event as a platform to reveal the PSP2. The date would certainly make sense, with Sony wanting to temper expectation for the soon-to-be-released Nintendo 3DS.

Apparently only "very select press" will be invited to the event, so, if VG247 are correct, expect the trickle of information to be slow. It would be nice to have an announcement out in the wilderness though. We've run so many rumours now that we're ready for the official line.

Update @ 11:54AM GMT: Looks like VG247 aren't the only site reporting this. MCV's also stepped up, stating that "Sony is on the verge of finally announcing the new handheld" on January 27th. Mark your calendar, folks.

Update @ 20:18PM GMT: GameInformer magazine claims it's been invited to a Sony event in Tokyo on January 27th. Yep, this is happening.
