You are all morons.

That $440 dollars (provided by iSuppli) is simply the total cost of the components that make up the PS3.

It DOES NOT include the cost of labor to put it together, marketing, legal, HR, and all the other ancillary costs that go into making the Playstation 3. How little any of you understand about the business world. Amazing.

i take your points on board but software developers are beginning to get disgruntled with the price of the PS3. Sony may seem to think that they can rebound by making tongue in cheek comments but the fact is games make a console. i didnt say that EA will or have stopped making games for the PS3 but what im trying to say is that Sony are running the risk of upsetting games developers by not reducing the price.

In an ideal world, of course EA would want Sony to sell more systems. In an ideal world, EA would want Microsoft and Nintendo to sell more system too. That’s because they’re EA and they NEED to sell games. If all three systems (and the handhelds) are all selling equally high, EA are a happy company.

That’s why Sony rebounded saying “third parties want us to give the PS3 away for free” — it’s tongue in cheek because EA would literally be over the moon if all the system’s this generation were given away with McDonald’s Happy Meals.

The point I’m trying to make is — with a price cut currently not on the cards, the PS3 sales CONTINUE to be at a high enough level to ensure that publisher’s are on board. Let’s not forget that sales parity between PS3 and 360 is not TOO far apart — Rockstar earned more money from PS3 GTA4 than they did the 360 one; likewise SF4 PS3 initially outsold the 360 one, as did RE5 in Europe.

The point I’m trying to make is, we should have this discussion when EA or Ubisoft or whoever actually come out and say “We’re not going to put games out on the Ps3 anymore” — which isn’t going to happen.

The PS3 has sold 21 million systems since it launched. The 360 is somewhere around 30 million with a year-headstart on the market and an incomparable price. Sony are doing absolutely fine.

If you’re worried about EA stopping developing on the PS3, perhaps you should consider they stop developing on the 360 also and just solely work on the Wii. After all, fitness games are where the money is.

Who cares? Me and my fellow cheap bastards still won’t buy it til we find it worth buying. If your happy with your purchase, that’s great. You should go buy another one or take your nose out of sonys ass. Sony doesn’t give a shit what anyone thinks. Majority rules! There are more cheap bastards then brown nosers according to sales. The ps3 can walk and talk and do a jig for all I care. It’s worth buying when I say so, duh.

@ jonas – EA have asked indirectly for a price cut. think about it – example: (might not be a good one) if you sell 50 million copies of an EA game on the wii and 45 million on the 360 and only 10 million on the PS3 – are you going to invest more money in making games for the PS3 or the wii and 360

sony are investing for their customers in the long run -lol- what customers? they are constantly being outsold by the wii and 360 every month, and we’re not in japan you moron when was the last time you had a yen in your pocket. with times being hard which console would you buy your kids? the low price wii and 360 or the expensive bluray player. the only one thinking in a limited way is you get with the times, theres a recession, no ones gonna fork out a shit load of money on a ps3 when they can buy a 360 which is in the same league and youre calling me a moron.

Great. Still the “No Games” theory. I only play racing games on my ps3, but still, people who say that need to come out of the year 2000. Granted the 360 has more but saying the PS3 has none, makes not much sense.
