The Playstation Protection Plan Will Grant Extra Support For Your Hardware.

Particularly this generation, where the PS3 and PSP have been two of the more sound units on the market. That's not to say they are faultless pieces of hardware - no electronics are - but their respective system failure rates are typically lower than other pieces of hardware on the market.

Sony, however, wants to give you peace of mind. And that's why they've launched the Playstation Protection Plan, essentially designed to extend the warranty of various pieces of Sony hardware. For $59.99 American players will be able to extend their PS3's warranty for two-years, or just a single year at $49.99. Likewise, it'll cost $39.99 to protect a PSP for two years, or $29.99 for one.

We've seen a few people bring up the "bu-bu-Microsoft offer three-years extended warranty for free" comment on the Internet. That's because the XBOX 360 is such a disastrous piece of hardware Microsoft nearly got a class-action law suit on their ass. We're not trolling - we're just putting an end to those inevitable comments before they start.
